About the Designer
Designing rugs is my passion because they are beautiful and functional. We
sit on them, play on them, cats and dogs sleep on them, and children learn
to walk on them. They are a foundation for all that happens in homes all
over the world.
My designs are distinguished by their lyrical and curvaceous lines. Color
is also an important part of my work. My designs are eclectic, and they
will work in contemporary, transitional, arts & crafts, Asian, and eclectic
settings.
My passion for rug design started when I began making hand hooked rugs in
1986, after taking classes from the late Hallie Hall, an icon in traditional
American rug hooking. Hallie very graciously encouraged me to pursue the
craft by applying my artistic vision and bold use of color to original work.
I had been thinking about developing my own collection for many years, and a
few years ago, the idea took root, and the opportunity became real. I am
very fortunate to work with artisans in India who produce my rugs. They are
all made with luxurious 100% New Zealand worsted wool. Rugs are hand
tufted. Hand knotting is also available on all collection and custom
designs.
Three collections of limited edition rugs are available, as are custom
design services. Each of the collection rugs is available in standard size
and color. Custom size and/or custom color is available on all collection
rugs.
I am very pleased to support Rugmark, an international nonprofit
organization that works with rug producers in India, Pakistan, and Nepal to
end illegal child labor in the rug industry. Rugmark also provides
educational programming for children in these areas.
My rugs are in private collections throughout North America; including New
York City, Chicago, Boston, Hollywood, Los Angeles, and Toronto. They have
also been featured in regional and national media.
